Twisted Socks
Twisted Socks are knit with fingering weight held double (one strand of DK will work, too, but be sure to check your gauge!). Knit them a size larger than usual for a looser house sock (let’s face it, many of us don’t have to wear shoes during the day anymore), or cast on your usual size to wear out and about. They’re the perfect thickness to pair with hiking boots, and since they knit so much faster than fingering weight socks, you won’t mind adding a few inches to the height for extra warmth all winter long. Pair with sweats and an extra large mug of coffee for optimal comfort.
Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4); Preteen (Adult Small - Medium, Adult Large, Adult XL).
Finished foot circumference: 6 (7.25, 8.25, 9.5)”/ 15 (18, 20.5, 23.5)cm.
Leg height: 6 (9, 10, 11)”/ 15 (23, 25.5, 28)cm, or as desired.
To be worn with 0 - 1”/ 0 - 2.5cm negative or positive ease.
Needles: US 3/ 3.25mm or size to obtain gauge, in preferred sock needles.
Gauge: 28 sts and 34 rnds = 4”/ 10cm over Stockinette stitch with yarn held double.
Yarn: fingering weight (held double): 400 (600, 700, 800) yards/ 367 (551, 642, 734) meters.
Exact yardage is dependent on foot length and leg height.
